Who this is for

This service is built for suppliers preparing for a category review with Woolworths, Coles, ALDI, Metcash or one of the independents — and for category and sales leaders who want to walk in with a clear story instead of a stack of slides. If your team is scrambling the week before review, or your last review did not go the way you hoped, this is where we come in.

We work with both fresh produce growers and packers, and FMCG suppliers across grocery, convenience and independents. Australia-wide.

What category review support with Binary actually involves

Every engagement is shaped around your review date and the retailer's brief, but the work usually covers:

  • Category and segment performance read, year-on-year and against the last review period.
  • Range review: what to add, what to delete, and what to defend, with the data to back it.
  • Competitor and own-brand benchmarking using scan and panel data.
  • Promotional and price architecture review tied to the ranging recommendation.
  • Shopper and demographic context to frame why the changes matter.
  • A buyer-ready category review deck: clean, defensible, and easy to walk through.

We work across the data sources most Australian suppliers actually use: Aztec, NielsenIQ, Circana (formerly IRI), Freshlogic, Quantium Q.Refinery, Woolworths Connect and Coles Connect.

What you get

A buyer-ready review deck, an underlying analysis pack your team can re-use, and a clear set of recommendations with the trade-offs called out. Where it helps, we sit with you to rehearse the read-out so you walk into the room confident, not reading off the slides.

Common questions about this service

How far out from a review should we engage you?
Four to six weeks is the sweet spot. It gives us time to do the data work properly, agree the story with you, and build the deck. We can move faster if you are tight on time, but earlier always lands better.
Do you build the buyer-facing deck or just the analysis?
Both, usually. We can deliver just the analysis if your team wants to own the slides, or take it through to a buyer-ready deck. Most clients want the full package.
Do you only work with fresh produce, or FMCG too?
Both. The Binary team has deep roots in fresh produce, but the same category review discipline applies across grocery FMCG, convenience and independents. If you sell into Australian retail, we can support your review.
Which retailers do you have experience with?
We work across all major Australian retail channels, including Woolworths, Coles, ALDI, Metcash (IGA, Foodland and Drakes), and the key convenience and independent groups. Each retailer has its own data environment, category logic and buyer expectations, and we tailor our approach accordingly.
Will you sit in the review with us?
Where it adds value, yes. More often we rehearse the presentation with you in advance and remain available throughout the review window so you can respond quickly to buyer questions or follow-up requests.
Are you Sydney based or Australia-wide?
Binary is based in Sydney and works with growers, suppliers and brand owners across Australia. Most engagements are conducted remotely, with on-site visits where they add genuine value to the process.
