Who this is for
This service is built for category managers, sales leaders, marketing teams and founders who are tired of paying for raw scan data feeds and getting back nothing but rows. If you are sitting on Aztec, Nielsen, Circana or Freshlogic data and not getting clear answers about what to range, when to promote and where you are losing share, this is for you.
We work with both fresh produce growers and packers, and FMCG suppliers across grocery, convenience and independents. Australia-wide. No junior handoffs and no bloated retainers.
What scan data analysis with Binary actually involves
Every engagement is different, but the work usually covers some combination of:
- Category, segment and SKU performance reviews against the total market and your direct competitors.
- Distribution and ranging gap analysis — what is in store, what is not, and what it is costing you.
- Promotional analysis: lift, ROI, cannibalisation, halo and the promotions you should stop running.
- Price elasticity and price architecture reviews across pack sizes and tiers.
- Customer demographic and basket analysis using loyalty and panel data.
- Buyer-ready stories and one-pagers built for category review meetings.
We work across the data sources most Australian suppliers actually use: Aztec, NielsenIQ, Circana (formerly IRI), Freshlogic, Quantium Q.Refinery, Woolworths Connect and Coles Connect.
What you get
Outputs are practical, not pretty-for-the-sake-of-it. Expect a short executive summary, the underlying analysis in a format your team can actually re-run, and a clear set of recommendations with the trade-offs called out. Where it helps, we build it straight into a buyer-ready deck so you can walk into your next category review and lead with the numbers instead of defending them.
The outcomes we have delivered
Frequently asked questions
Do we need to provide our own scan data, or can you source it?
Either works. Most of our clients already have a subscription to Aztec, Nielsen, Circana, Freshlogic, Woolworths Connect or Coles Connect, and we work directly inside what you have. If you do not yet have access, we can advise on which provider fits your category and budget before you commit.
Which data providers do you work with?
All the major ones used in Australia: Aztec, NielsenIQ, Circana (formerly IRI), Freshlogic, Quantium Q.Refinery, plus retailer portals like Woolworths Connect and Coles Connect. We are provider-agnostic; we will work with whatever gives you the cleanest read on your category.
Do you only work with fresh produce, or FMCG too?
Both. The Binary team has deep roots in fresh produce, but the same scan data discipline applies across grocery FMCG, convenience and independents. If your category has scan data, we can read it.
How long is a typical engagement?
It ranges from a single category review piece of work over two to three weeks, through to embedded support across a full ranging cycle. We do not push retainers for the sake of it, most clients start with a focused project and decide from there.
Are you Sydney based or Australia-wide?
Binary is based in Sydney but we work with growers, suppliers and brand owners across Australia. Most engagements run remotely with on-site visits where it adds value.
